Job Interview

Private Banking Advisor

Some days ago, Patrick and Lukas went to the City Center of Cambridge looking for an adequate interviewee to accomplish our mission. First we absolutely didn’t know who to interview…As we were strolling through the streets and saw the Abbey-Bank we immediately knew who to interview – a banker. So we went to the bank and met the friendly Lisa Taylor.

Lisa lives in Cambridge and works as a Personal Banking Advisor. She’s 21 years old and still lives with her family. Lisa is a very easy-going person and seems to be very open-minded.

She’s been working at Abbey’s for 4 years. She said that you don’t need any special qualifications to work as Banking Advisor, but she had to pass a 5-week-training and in addition a yearly testing is required. We were absolutely surprised, because in Switzerland we have to do at minimum 3 years of apprenticeship instead of 5 weeks.

35 hours a week is the time she has to be at the office. Usually she works from 9am to 5pm, including 1 hour lunch-time. Lisa normally walks to work but during bad weather conditions she takes the bus. Abbey Bank offers 5 weeks of vacation a year and additionally Bank holidays.

She benefits from good interest rates, 25% off insurance, low loan rates and a 0% credit card. Lisa told us that salaries at the Abbey bank may vary, but she earns about 14’000 £ a year.

Normally she has to deal with customer requests, open accounts, give information about mortgages or credit cards. She really likes to communicate with other people and working as a team. On the other hand she dislikes costumers complaining. Furthermore, she adores her job, because every day is different.

However, work isn’t always work because her Assistant Manager is also her best mate and she even lives with another Abbey’s Banker who is actually her brother.
