Interview with the Owner of a

Diving Company

One night we were having dinner with the host family. A friend of the family was also there. We spoke about the life in Cambridge and he told us that he is the owner of a company. So we decided to do the interview with him called

   Mohammed.

Mohammed has owned the company since 1994. He also owns 2 other companies. He was born in the United Arabian Emirates and was in school there. After his 14th birthday he had to study very hard and had to learn different languages. Now he is proud of his hard work because he can speak 7 languages. We can say that he lives everywhere because he has 3 houses in different countries. At the moment, he is living in a flat because his new house in Cambridge hasn’t been finished yet. He doesn’t have any children and at the moment he is enjoying his single life.

The headquarters of the company is in Brighton. Mohammed manages his company by E-mail because he hasn’t enough time to visit the 3 companies every day. The other 2 companies are in Dubai and so the distance is very long. He has 25 employers who work the whole year. We asked him how many customers come in the main season, in summer. He replied that there are about 300 people from all over the world. In winter time only 50 people come to dive because in Brighton in winter only about 5°C.

“Why do the people come to your company, do you offer something special?” we asked. Mohammed replied: “Yes, I have one special offer. If there is a group of 5 people then one person can dive for free.”

Something terrible happened last summer. 3 German people were diving in the sea when a shark attacked one of them. Fortunately the accident wasn’t so bad. The German boy only had a small wound. A few seconds later the shark swam away. Accidents like this damage his company, that’s why it was bad for him.

The main reason Mohammed likes to be the owner of companies is that he is his own boss and nobody tells him what to do. At the same time he earns enough money to have a beautiful life.

It was interesting to do the interview with Mohammed because he is a very nice and friendly person.
